A journal about life in Wisconsin, decorating, and restoring an 1893 Queen Anne Victorian built by Civil War veteran John Olson Wrolstad and his wife Mathea. Read on to see lots of old photographs, and read stories of the second owners Thomas and Maren Quien, and their children who filled the house with memories for 90 years. Very First Photo I Took of the House Feb 18, 2007 - 30 minutes after we bought the house.
Hello Linda, What a pleasant surprise to see this post of the way you renovated your charming, old-fashioned bathroom. Your artistic touch is certainly not limited to quilts and sewing. It has been one of my dreams to have a fine old house filled with interesting old things. Incidentally, what is that thing next to the wooden dresser? It looks like an old vending machine, but there is not a clear photo of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you and your family are all doing well.

Hello Jim. Thank you for your vote of confidence. Next to the walnut dresser is a 3-bay gumball machine. We have a small collection of them. What is interesting for me about this gumball machine is the housing color. It is a grayed-green and was the inspiration color for the beadboard wall paint color, "Bewitch" by Valspar. Usually I have gumballs in the machine, but over the years the gumballs faded in color. I bought a new 4 lb. bag of gumballs but haven't poured them into the vending machine yet. I took the first three photos of the bathroom recently. It was a very sunny morning. Not much has changed since we converted this small bedroom in May 2009--into a much needed 2nd bath upstairs. In closing, I want to say thank you for looking at my blog. It's been a long time since we corresponded. I'll go visit your site now, to see what you've been doing. I miss your "mystery-item" blogs. Always a challenge.
DeleteWOW! Absolutely gorgeous! And so time-appropriate! ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteHi Robin. I keep saying to myself--one of these days I'm going to ring you up, and see if you want to go to lunch. I stay at home much too much. I need a road trip.
DeletePlease do! I'd love it!
